Today was the "bring Grandmom over to acclimate her with all that the boys need" and "head to Red Lobster with both Grandmothers and the boys and the kids for a farewell dinner" day. Tomorrow will be insanity with last minute to-do's, drama practice at 5:00 for one skit, at 6:00 for another and then weighing all of our bags at 7. If things get too heavy or light, we need to redistribute among 20 suitcases. Should be a good case of organized mayhem. LOL. Eh....probably not. I'm sure things will go swimmingly.
Delos didn't do a thing with packing all day. Apparently I woke him up at 12:30am and he stayed awake until 5:30am. Yikes! I hate those nights! So sorry I created one...didn't know. Then he had to leave by 6:30 to go to a really really big golf tournament: the U.S. Mid Am. Only 2 qualifiers get to go to the next round...in Wisconsin. He's entered the last couple of years, but not qualified. When I called him to find out how all went, he said "Do you want the good news first, or the bad news?" (I knew then he had qualified.) I replied with "OK. Gimme the good," to which he responded, "I'm going to Wisconsin in September! The bad news....I'm going to Wisconsin in September!" After a good chuckle and mucho congratulations and excitement, we decided, over dinner, that Jill's suggestions were key; he needs to work on his accent and a good comb-over "do" prior to departure. C.J. got a particularly good chortle out of that one.
Right now Delos is getting ready for bed, thinking it'll be sandman, snuggles and snoozes time in a moment. Little does he know that the director of his skit is about to trundle up there and work on his sense memory as he "creates the universe" playing God in the Lifehouse Everything Skit you probably see to the side of this post. We'll see how that goes. Not well, I project. ;o)~ But it can't hurt to suggest working on it, right? I got orders from higher up to "be hard on him"! From Marshan, that is! (Insert cheesy grin).
This morning, the boys were up early with me, so we cycled to the pool by 7 to do triathlon training at their request. Bryton did 50yds, CJ 100yds and I pulled off 700. It was soooo nice not to be running! The boys were quite content throughout the duration of my swim, chasing a lost frog in the pool. That worked out well for me...I didn't have little arms, legs and goggle-eyes poking and peering at me to play "Marco Polo" in the middle of my workout, par usual. We peddled home to breakfast and schoolwork with Grandmom, in preparation for Africa. I had 1.5 hours of peace and quiet while the boys headed to lunch with Grandmom and I zipped out for a mani/pedi., then back to school, karate and the aforementioned dinner.
Alright...off to work on the skit...I have to completely familiarize myself with the lines and musical cues. SO not my forte. I will pray for clarity. It hasn't presented itself quite yet.
Then it's straight to fold the 56th load of laundry, it seems, and continue packing, packing, packing.
Sweet dreams everyone, and thank you for all of your prayers! We sure appreciate them!

This is a running commentary on my preparations, experiences and thoughts as I embark upon what I know will be one of my most life-altering experiences yet. I will likely not have any signal for posting throughout most of my stay, but I will be journaling and catch up online as I am able. I hope that you will hop on board and enjoy this journey with me!
